Three years after October 7th: The mental state of Israelis
Three years have passed since the events of October 7th, a day that changed the face of the country. While most of the Israeli public is trying to continue with their daily routines and recover from the national trauma, new data points to significant difficulties that still accompany large segments of society.
According to the latest data, about 20% of Israelis report severe impairment in their daily functioning. These are people who are struggling to return to a full routine at work, in their studies, or in family life as a result of the difficult events they and the entire country experienced.
In addition, about 15% of the population were personally exposed to the massacre or the intense fighting that took place during those days. This direct exposure to the battle scenes and the harrowing sights significantly affects the ability of these individuals to cope with the current reality, highlighting the need for continued, tailored mental health support.
Despite the difficulties, most of the public is showing signs of recovery and resilience. Various systems in Israel continue to work to assist those in need of help, with the goal of restoring the ability to function fully and improving the quality of life for all affected citizens.
