Netanyahu's defense to the court: We cannot hold five days of hearings per week
Attorney Amit Hadad, representing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his trial, has appealed to the court to modify the hearing schedule. Hadad argued that the defense team cannot keep up with the pace of five hearing days per week, as recently proposed.
During the hearing, Attorney Hadad compared the workload required for Netanyahu's trial to the historic trial of Adolf Eichmann. According to him, the Eichmann trial was the only case in the history of the Israeli judicial system where hearings were held at such a volume of five days per week.
The defense team's request comes against the backdrop of the judicial system's attempts to advance the criminal cases pending against the Prime Minister. The lawyers emphasized that significant time is required to prepare legal materials and conduct a proper defense, which is not feasible under an overly tight schedule.
The court is expected to deliberate on the request and decide whether to change the number of weekly hearing days. This decision may affect the amount of time it will take to reach a verdict in the cases in question, which have occupied the Israeli public for a long time.
