Israeli startup LSports lays off about 40 employees due to the use of artificial intelligence
The Israeli high-tech world is facing significant changes, as the startup company LSports has announced the layoff of about 40 employees. This accounts for approximately 20 percent of the company's total workforce, a move that comes against the backdrop of economic and technological challenges affecting the local market.
Dotan Lazar, the company's CEO, explained that the decision was made due to a combination of factors, including the dollar exchange rate and rapid changes in the world of technology. According to him, about 95 percent of the company's code is now written with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, which makes work processes more efficient and faster, but also reduces the need for human labor for certain tasks.
The CEO addressed the personal difficulty involved in this move in an interview. He noted that parting ways with employees who have worked alongside him for a long time is not an easy task, but the company is committed to adapting to the new reality in order to remain competitive in the global market.
This case reflects a broader trend in the technology industry, where many companies are re-evaluating their workforce structure in light of the advanced capabilities of artificial intelligence. While the technology brings innovation with it, it also poses new challenges for many employees in the development field.
