The first rain has arrived: Rain fell today in Eilat and the Arava
Winter is approaching with giant strides, and today (Saturday), residents of the south were treated to the first rains of the season. In the city of Eilat, about 2.5 millimeters of rain fell, a surprising and refreshing event for the residents of the hot southern city.
It was not only in Eilat that precipitation was recorded; light rains were also reported in other areas of the southern Arava. At Ramon Airport, about 0.6 millimeters of rain were measured, a fact that indicates a change in the weather throughout the region.
The rains arrived after a long period of hot and dry weather, typical for the southern region. Many residents in the area shared photos and videos of the first rain on social media, expressing excitement over the refreshing change in temperatures.
The Meteorological Service continues to monitor the development of clouds in the area. Although these are relatively small amounts of rain, it is a clear sign that the transitional season is in full swing and that the Israeli winter is just around the corner.
