A story of hope: Mongoose cub that was severely injured returns to walking at the Safari
A moving story arrived this week from the Wildlife Hospital at the Ramat Gan Safari. A young mongoose cub, which was found in the Beit Shemesh area in very critical condition, has managed to rehabilitate and return to walking after intensive and prolonged medical treatment.
When the cub was found, it was helpless and suffering from complex injuries. Medical examinations showed that it was suffering from a severe pelvic fracture and acute anemia, a situation that raised grave concerns among the caregivers that it would not be able to return to walking normally in the future.
The Wildlife Hospital team did not give up on the cub and provided it with dedicated care for an entire month. The treatment included close medical monitoring, appropriate nutrition, and physical rehabilitation, with the goal of helping its body recover from the severe injury it had sustained.
The great efforts paid off, and recently the long-awaited turnaround was recorded: the cub began to recover, the fractures healed, and it returned to walking on its own legs. The caregivers at the Safari expressed great excitement over the rapid recovery and the fact that the little cub received a second chance at life in the wild.
