Tonight we switch to winter time: Everything you need to know
Tonight, between Saturday and Sunday, the State of Israel officially switches to winter time. At 02:00 AM, the clock hands will move one hour back, to 01:00 AM. This change marks the end of the long daylight saving time and the beginning of the cooler period of the year.
The transition to winter time affects all of our daily routines. Starting Sunday, the sun will set earlier in the evening, which means darkness will arrive as early as the late afternoon hours. However, many enjoy the fact that it will be light earlier in the morning, which makes waking up easier for students and workers.
Most modern digital devices, such as smartphones and computers, update automatically to the new time. Nevertheless, it is recommended to check manual clocks or the clocks in your home and car to ensure they are set correctly, to avoid confusion with schedules on Sunday morning.
The change to winter time will last until March 28, 2025. On that date, we will return to daylight saving time and move the hands one hour forward. Until then, the public is invited to enjoy the extra hours of morning light and prepare for the cooler days that the autumn season brings with it.
