Prime Minister Netanyahu's defense team requests to reduce the number of trial hearing days
Attorney Amit Hadad, representing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has petitioned the court to modify the schedule of hearings in the Prime Minister's trial. According to the request, the defense team cannot meet the quota of five hearing days per week as originally planned.
During the court hearing, Attorney Hadad emphasized that the volume of work required to prepare the defense is extremely extensive. He noted that conducting a trial at a pace of five days a week is a highly unusual step in the Israeli judicial system.
To illustrate his argument, the attorney compared the requested pace of hearings to the historic trial of Adolf Eichmann. According to him, the Eichmann trial was the only case in the country's history where hearings were held with such frequency, and it is unreasonable to apply a similar standard to the current trial.
The request has sparked public and legal debate regarding how to balance the need for an efficient and swift trial with the defendant's right to receive a full and adequate defense. The parties are now awaiting the judges' decision regarding the future schedule of hearings in the case.
