Germany unveils its first F-35 aircraft
Germany officially presented its first F-35 fighter jet this week at a festive ceremony. The advanced aircraft, manufactured by the American company Lockheed Martin, was unveiled at a special event held in the United States, attended by senior officials from the German military and the U.S. Department of Defense.
The F-35 is considered one of the most advanced and powerful fighter jets in the world. It is equipped with "stealth" technology, which allows it to fly without being detected by enemy radar systems. The aircraft is capable of performing a wide range of missions, including intelligence gathering, precision strikes, and air-to-air combat.
Germany's decision to purchase these aircraft comes against the backdrop of security changes in Europe in recent years. The German government explained that the new jets will replace the German Air Force's aging Tornado fleet and will help the country meet its commitments within the NATO alliance.
For Israel, this is significant news, as the Israeli Air Force has been operating the F-35 (known in Israel as the "Adir") for several years. Technological cooperation and joint training with countries that operate the same type of aircraft strengthen Israel's security ties with its Western allies.
In the coming years, Germany is expected to receive dozens more of these aircraft. The jets will be used for training at specialized bases in the United States before arriving in Germany, where German pilots will begin their full training on the advanced systems.
