Italy focuses on artificial intelligence: 'Wave 2026' project kicks off
Italy is preparing for a significant technological transformation with the launch of 'Wave 2026', an ambitious national project dedicated to the development of artificial intelligence. The initiative aims to modernize the country's digital infrastructure, making the production system more competitive at both the European and global levels.
The heart of the project concerns the creation of new computing centers and the upgrading of communication networks. These investments are fundamental to enabling Italian companies, from small businesses to large industries, to integrate artificial intelligence tools into their daily processes, improving the efficiency and quality of the services offered.
Beyond the technological aspect, 'Wave 2026' places great emphasis on training. The plan includes numerous professional development courses for workers and students, with the goal of bridging the digital skills gap. The idea is to prepare a new generation of professionals ready to manage the challenges posed by automation and new algorithms.
The government has emphasized that ethics and security will remain at the center of this journey. The goal is to ensure that the use of artificial intelligence complies with European regulations on privacy and citizens' rights, promoting technological development that is sustainable and inclusive for all of society.
In the coming months, the project will enter the operational phase with the first calls for tenders for infrastructure. Italy is therefore looking to 2026 as a decisive year to consolidate its position in the international technological landscape, seeking to transform innovation into a concrete resource for the national economy.
