Analyst: war fatigue is growing in Russia and Putin is seeking negotiations
According to an analysis published by Repubblica, many people in Russia are reportedly tired of the war in Ukraine. Expert Mark Galeotti said that the desire for a solution other than conflict is growing in the country. For this reason, he believes that President Vladimir Putin now wants to open negotiations.
Galeotti also linked this situation to the recent Victory Day parade, a very important event for the Russian government. The analyst said that the ceremony was a difficult moment for the Kremlin. The reason, he explained, was the threat of possible actions by Kyiv.
According to this interpretation, the parade showed not only strength and unity, but also the difficulties Russia is experiencing after many months of war. The event, which usually serves to reinforce the image of power, instead appears this time to have highlighted a more fragile situation.
The analyst’s statements therefore describe a delicate moment for the Russian leadership. On the one hand, tensions with Ukraine continue; on the other, according to Galeotti, fatigue is growing within Russia. In this context, the prospect of negotiations appears to be a possible development in the situation.
