Cyberattack on TeamSystem: accounting data and IBAN codes stolen
A serious cybersecurity incident has affected TeamSystem, one of Italy's leading companies in the management software sector. On August 24th, the company detected unauthorized access to its IT systems, which led to the theft of a large amount of sensitive data belonging to its clients.
According to initial official information, hackers managed to access confidential information regarding accounting operations. The stolen data also includes IBAN codes, an element that exposes the affected companies to potential risks of financial fraud. TeamSystem has confirmed the data exfiltration and immediately initiated the necessary security procedures to contain the attack.
The company has already notified the competent authorities and the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali). Furthermore, direct communication has been activated with the affected clients, providing instructions on how to protect themselves and monitor for any suspicious activity on their bank accounts. Cybersecurity experts are collaborating with law enforcement to reconstruct the incident and identify those responsible.
This episode once again raises the issue of digital security for Italian companies that handle financial data. Experts advise all companies using TeamSystem's services to pay close attention to anomalous communications and to carefully verify any suspicious banking transactions in the coming days.
The situation remains under close monitoring. TeamSystem has stated that it is working to strengthen its cyber defenses and prevent further breaches, ensuring maximum support for clients who may suffer consequences due to this data theft.
