Facebook blackout: service disruptions in Italy and worldwide
Yesterday, the popular social network Facebook suffered a significant technical outage that affected millions of users. The problem, which caused a sudden block in access to the platform, lasted over three hours, preventing users from viewing their content or interacting with contacts.
The disruption did not only affect Italy, where thousands of reports were recorded by users, but had a global reach. In the United States and many other countries as well, people encountered the impossibility of accessing their profiles, seeing the message "Account unavailable."
Online monitoring platforms confirmed a peak in reports during the afternoon, highlighting how the problem was widespread on a large scale. Many users sought answers on competing social networks, confirming that the failure was directly linked to the servers of Mark Zuckerberg's company.
At the moment, the company's technicians have worked to restore the correct functioning of the service. Although the situation returned to normal after a few hours, the episode has once again raised the issue of dependence on large digital platforms and their technical stability in an increasingly connected world.
