Serious accident in Ariccia: 21-year-old man loses a leg
A terrible road accident occurred at dawn on Sunday on the Via Nettunense, in the territory of Ariccia, near Rome. A car crashed violently into the guardrail and the consequences for the passengers were very serious. The incident has shaken the local community due to the dynamics of the collision and the young age of the people involved.
The accident happened precisely at kilometer 12.500 of the state road. A Peugeot 208, carrying two young friends, lost control for reasons that are still under investigation by the authorities. The impact against the side protection barrier was so strong that it almost completely destroyed the front part of the vehicle.
The driver, a young man of only 21 years old, suffered the most concerning injuries. After being rushed to the hospital, doctors unfortunately had to amputate his leg due to the very serious trauma sustained in the crash. The other passenger traveling with him was also injured and was assisted by medical personnel, but his condition appears to be less critical.
Emergency services from 118 and law enforcement intervened immediately at the scene of the accident to manage the emergency. The police carried out the necessary surveys to reconstruct the exact dynamics of what happened and to understand which factors caused the loss of control of the car. As standard procedure in these cases, the Peugeot 208 was seized to allow for further technical investigations.
This dramatic event brings attention back to the issue of road safety in the peripheral areas of Rome, especially during the night hours. Local authorities continue to recommend maximum caution while driving and respect for speed limits to avoid similar tragedies that forever mark the lives of young people and their families.
