Fires in Friuli: the situation in the Carnia mountains
An emergency situation is affecting the Carnia mountains in Friuli Venezia Giulia. For several hours now, forest fires have been active on the slopes of Mount Amariana and Mount Cozzarel, located north of Udine. The flames, fueled by weather conditions, have necessitated a prompt intervention by local authorities.
To counter the advance of the fire, Italian rescue teams have been joined by reinforcements from neighboring Slovenia. International cooperation is essential at this moment to manage firefighting operations in a mountainous territory that is often difficult for ground vehicles to reach.
Rescue operations are focusing primarily on containing the blazes, preventing them from spreading toward inhabited areas or denser woodland. Firefighters and Civil Protection volunteers are working tirelessly, coordinating the use of helicopters and aerial vehicles to drop water on the most affected areas.
At the moment, local authorities continue to monitor the development of the fires. The public is urged to exercise extreme caution and to follow the official instructions provided by the Civil Protection to ensure the safety of all citizens residing in the surrounding areas.
