Serious accident on Lake Como: a car ends up in the water
A serious road accident occurred during the night between Saturday and Sunday along the shores of Lake Como. Shortly after midnight, a car went off the road and plunged into the waters of the lake. The accident took place on the Regina state road, in a stretch between the municipalities of Brienno and Argegno.
Two people were traveling in the vehicle. Rescuers, who arrived promptly at the scene, managed to recover a woman. The passenger was rushed to the hospital in very serious condition. However, a man who was inside the car is still missing in the deep waters of the lake.
Rescue operations were immediate and massive. Firefighters, divers, and several law enforcement patrols intervened at the scene of the accident. The search began immediately after the alarm was raised, but the darkness and the depth of the seabed in that area made the divers' work extremely complex and dangerous.
Local authorities have opened an investigation to determine the exact dynamics of the events. At the moment, the causes that led the driver to lose control of the vehicle are not yet clear. Investigators are analyzing the marks on the asphalt and looking for any witnesses who may have seen the scene.
The Regina state road is known for being a scenic but difficult route, characterized by sharp curves and poor lighting in some spots. This tragic event has shaken the local community, which is now waiting with hope for news about the missing man and for an improvement in the injured woman's health condition.
