IRIN is Born: A New Identity for Italian Brain Research
The EBRAINS-Italy scientific project has announced a significant change: as of today, the infrastructure will be called IRIN, an acronym for Italian Research Infrastructure for Neuroscience. This transformation is not just about the name and logo, but represents the consolidation of a long research journey dedicated to the study of the human brain and its complexities.
IRIN is the result of thirty months of intense work and collaboration among numerous centers of excellence. The project received significant funding of nearly 23 million euros from the Ministry of University and Research (MUR). These investments have made it possible to create an advanced and solid technological network available to the country's scientists.
The main objective of this infrastructure is to offer modern digital tools to researchers studying the nervous system. Thanks to IRIN, experts can share scientific data, use complex mathematical models, and collaborate more easily at an international level. This support is fundamental for better understanding brain function and for developing new therapies for neurological diseases.
With this new identity, Italy confirms its leading role in European scientific research. IRIN will continue to promote technological innovation, ensuring that the national scientific community has access to the best available resources. The transition from EBRAINS-Italy to IRIN thus marks the beginning of an even more ambitious phase for science in Italy.
