Gas reserves: Italy exceeds European average ahead of winter
In view of the upcoming winter season, the situation regarding natural gas stocks in Europe is attracting the attention of experts. While some countries on the continent are facing difficulties in filling their storage facilities, Italy finds itself in a decidedly more solid position compared to the European average.
According to the latest data, gas reserves in Italy reached almost 78% of their total capacity by mid-August. This result is very positive when compared to the European Union average, which currently stands above 59%. These figures indicate that the Italian energy system is well prepared to face the coldest months of the year.
Conversely, the situation in Germany appears more complex. In the German country, gas storage levels are falling and, by mid-August, remained below 48%. This data highlights the challenges that Berlin must face to ensure the energy security of its citizens and industries before the arrival of the frost.
The comparison between the various European countries shows how important the management of energy reserves is in an international context that remains uncertain. For Italy, reaching these storage levels represents a fundamental step in ensuring price stability and continuity of supply for Italian families and businesses during the winter.
