Mattarella: The European Union must accelerate common decision-making
The President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, has issued an important appeal for the future of the European Union. During a recent speech, the Head of State emphasized that, in the current geopolitical context, it has become essential to make the EU's decision-making processes faster and more effective.
According to the President, one of the priority objectives for member countries must be the creation of a common defense. Mattarella explained that, to ensure the security of the continent, it is necessary for the military equipment of the various states to be interoperable, meaning capable of functioning together in an integrated and coordinated manner.
Mattarella's message is clear: no European country can think of facing global challenges alone. Acting in isolation, according to the President, would be a strategic error that would weaken the entire Union. Cooperation is therefore seen as the only viable path to maintaining a relevant role on the international stage.
The President's words come at a time of great change for Europe, which is called upon to respond to complex crises that require a single, strong voice. The call for cohesion aims to strengthen European identity, promoting deeper collaboration between governments to address common threats with greater speed and unity of purpose.
