Italy in the grip of heat: the fifth wave and Sahara sand are on the way
Italy is preparing to face a new and intense heatwave, the fifth of this summer season. According to meteorological forecasts, a mass of scorching air coming directly from North Africa is reaching our peninsula, bringing with it extremely high temperatures that could exceed 40 degrees in several regions.
In addition to the sharp rise in temperatures, the phenomenon will bring with it another characteristic element: Sahara dust. This cloud of sand, transported by hot air currents, will cross the Mediterranean and reach our territory, causing the typical effect of milky or yellowish skies, clearly visible especially during the central hours of the day.
Experts explain that this phenomenon is caused by a robust African anticyclone that has stabilized over the Mediterranean basin. The combination of intense heat and the presence of particles suspended in the air will create conditions of climatic discomfort, with a significant increase in humidity and a feeling of sultriness that will make the days particularly difficult for citizens.
Health authorities recommend caution, suggesting that people avoid direct exposure to the sun during the hottest hours, drink plenty of water, and limit physical activities outdoors. It is also advised to pay particular attention to the most vulnerable categories, such as the elderly and children, who are most affected by sudden temperature changes.
This phase of climatic instability is expected to persist for a few days before a possible easing of temperatures. The situation remains under constant monitoring by meteorological centers, which invite the population to follow official updates to best plan their daily activities during this period of thermal emergency.
