Sustainable energy: 355 million euros for the development of biomethane in Italy
The Italian energy sector is taking an important step towards ecological transition. Recently, the company Retina secured 355 million euros in funding aimed at the development and construction of plants for the production of biomethane, both in Italy and throughout the rest of Europe.
Work on the construction of the first group of ten plants officially began in September 2024. This project represents a fundamental part of the strategy to increase renewable energy production and reduce dependence on traditional fossil fuels.
These new plants are equipped with advanced technologies for injecting biomethane into the national distribution grid. The main objective is to make the energy system more efficient and sustainable, using agricultural and organic waste to create a clean and versatile energy resource.
The investment not only fosters the country's industrial growth but also contributes to achieving the climate goals set by the European Union. Thanks to this infrastructure, Italy aims to consolidate its role in the European renewable energy market, promoting an increasingly concrete circular economy model.
