From Okinawa to Africa: Young People Aiming for a Peaceful and Sustainable Future
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is promoting initiatives where young people from Okinawa and Africa work together to think about global peace and development. This project is based on the fundamental principles of developing nations through Africa's own efforts and valuing international cooperative relationships.
Okinawa is a place that experienced a major war in the past, making it a region where one can learn deeply about peacebuilding. In Okinawa, with its historical background, young African leaders are gathering to discuss the challenges facing their respective countries and potential solutions.
The goal of this activity is to foster leadership among young people to generate new ideas (innovation) and create a sustainable society. By exchanging opinions, young people from different cultures and backgrounds are creating new perspectives and forms of cooperation.
The exchange between Okinawa and Africa goes beyond mere knowledge sharing. As these young people actively take on leadership roles in the field, they are expected to become a powerful force for building peaceful societies around the world in the future.
Moving forward, this program will continue to send messages of peace from Okinawa to the world. The passion and cooperation of these young people are the keys to building a better future.
