Thinking About the Future of Sports and Health Policy: Japan Society of Physical Education, Health and Sport Sciences to be Held at the End of August
The 76th Annual Conference of the Japan Society of Physical Education, Health and Sport Sciences will be held in Sapporo for three days, from August 31 to September 2, 2026. This conference serves as an important venue for presenting and discussing the latest research findings in sports science and health promotion.
At this year's conference, a member-led session titled "Considering Sports and Health Policy from Japan's First Nationwide Activity Tracker Data" will be held. The session will discuss how data collected from activity trackers across Japan should be utilized for future health policies.
Senior Policy Officer Yuki Matsushita of the Sasakawa Sports Foundation will be a speaker at this session. By having experts discuss the topic based on actual data, it is expected that a new form of evidence-based sports policy will emerge.
The event will take place at two venues: the Sapporo Convention Center and Hokusho University. Many stakeholders are paying close attention to the potential that data utilization holds for realizing a healthy society through sports.
