Taiwan Air Force strengthens air defense system with introduction of state-of-the-art F-16V fighter jets
The Taiwan Air Force has introduced two new state-of-the-art F-16V fighter jets to enhance its air defense capabilities. This move is being noted as a significant step for Taiwan to bolster its national defense as the regional security environment continues to evolve.
In December 2023, the Taiwan Air Force established the new "7th Tactical Fighter Wing" with the goal of strengthening its overall air defense combat power. The wing is currently proceeding with a plan to organize its operational units in three phases.
As part of this plan, the Air Force has been sending pilots and maintenance staff to the United States in stages. The objective is to acquire the skills necessary to operate the new fighter jets safely and efficiently through training in the U.S.
With tensions rising in the airspace around Taiwan, the introduction of these fighter jets demonstrates Taiwan's strong resolve to solidify its defense posture. The Air Force intends to continue building its combat strength in stages to secure the defense of its skies.
