Taiwan Announces Countermeasures Against Morocco's Visa Restrictions, Seeks Normal Exchanges
Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it will take countermeasures in response to the Moroccan government's suspension of electronic visa (e-Visa) applications for Taiwanese citizens. Currently, those traveling from Taiwan to Morocco must apply for visa confirmation documents directly at an embassy, which is significantly impacting travel for tourism and business purposes.
Due to this issue, Taiwanese citizens are facing increased time and effort when completing travel procedures for Morocco. Taiwanese authorities have pointed out that the Moroccan side's response is unfair and are calling for the immediate lifting of visa restrictions imposed on Taiwanese citizens.
While Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not disclosed specific details regarding these countermeasures, it stated that it intends to respond based on the principle of reciprocity. It also emphasized a strong desire for the early resumption of normal personnel exchanges and economic activities between the two countries.
This incident highlights diplomatic tensions between Taiwan and Morocco. Taiwanese authorities state that they will continue to engage in dialogue with the Moroccan government and persist in efforts to restore an environment where Taiwanese citizens can travel smoothly.
