Taiwanese government donates approximately 25 million yen to support areas affected by the Kumamoto earthquake
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan announced on the 31st that it will donate 5 million New Taiwan dollars (approximately 25 million Japanese yen) to support the areas affected by the earthquake in Kumamoto Prefecture. This aid is intended to help the people in the regions that suffered significant damage from the earthquake.
In addition to providing the donation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also established a dedicated bank account for those who wish to support Japan. Through this account, the ministry plans to collect donations from the Taiwanese public as well.
Taiwan and Japan have a history of helping each other whenever natural disasters have occurred. This decision demonstrates that the Taiwanese government highly values its friendly relationship with Japan.
Recovery efforts are currently ongoing in the affected areas, and a great deal of support is still needed. This swift assistance from the Taiwanese government is expected to be a great source of encouragement for the people in the affected regions.
