"Unlimited Data" 5G-Compatible SIM Card Launched for Foreign Visitors to Japan
As the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan surges, a new service has been launched to make the internet environment during travel more convenient. IIJ, a major internet service provider, has begun selling the "Japan Travel SIM Unlimited for BIC SIM," a prepaid SIM card that offers unlimited data capacity and supports high-speed 5G communication.
This new SIM card can be purchased at Bic Camera Group stores, including Bic Camera, Kojima, and Sofmap. Foreign tourists who have just arrived in Japan can use the internet within the country simply by inserting this SIM card into their smartphones, without the need for any complicated contracts.
In recent travel, there are increasing situations that require large amounts of data communication, such as searching for routes on map apps, posting videos to social media, and using real-time translation tools. While previous prepaid SIM cards generally had limits on data usage, the major appeal of this new product is that it is "unlimited," allowing users to use it without worrying about remaining data.
Additionally, because it supports the latest 5G communication, extremely smooth and fast communication is possible in covered areas. The prepaid format is easy and straightforward for short-term visitors, making it a service that meets the needs of tourists.
Currently, foreign tourists are seen in many parts of Japan, and the development of tourism infrastructure is being prioritized. The enhancement of such communication services is expected to not only improve convenience for tourists but also serve as a catalyst to further boost Japan's tourism industry.
