Taiwan's Vice President Hsiao Emphasizes the Importance of Democracy at International Forum in Italy
Taiwan's Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim attended an international forum held on the island of Ventotene, Italy. This island is historically known as a place where people fought for freedom and democracy in Europe.
In her speech, Vice President Hsiao stated that Taiwan also has a history of striving for democracy and freedom under difficult circumstances in the past. She also strongly asserted that the people of Taiwan have the right to connect with the world and make friends within the international community.
This visit demonstrates Taiwan's stance of avoiding international isolation and seeking to deepen relations with countries that share democratic values. In particular, it aims to strengthen cooperation with European nations that cherish values such as freedom and human rights.
Taiwan and Japan are geographically close and have deep economic ties. Protecting Taiwan's democracy has become an important theme for regional stability, and Taiwan's international activities will continue to be closely watched.
