Taiwan's President Lai and Vice President Hsiao announce donations to Noto Peninsula earthquake-stricken areas
Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te and Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim have announced that they will be making personal donations to support the areas affected by the earthquake in Japan. According to information released by the Presidential Office on the 30th, each will donate 200,000 New Taiwan dollars (approximately 1.01 million Japanese yen).
This donation is drawing attention as a gesture symbolizing the friendly relationship between Japan and Taiwan. Taiwan and Japan have built a relationship of mutual support whenever major disasters have occurred in the past. This support also embodies Taiwan's strong desire for the recovery of the affected areas.
The Taiwanese government has expressed its heartfelt sympathies, hoping that those affected can return to their normal lives as soon as possible. Restoration work is currently ongoing in the affected areas, and these funds are intended to be used for living support and the repair of infrastructure in the disaster-stricken regions.
In this way, the fact that Taiwan's top leaders have personally announced their support for the disaster-stricken areas has been received with great gratitude within Japan. It is expected that the cooperative relationship between the two regions will continue in various forms in the future.
