Making Taxi Use More Convenient for Foreign Visitors: "GO" and "NAVITIME" Apps Collaborate
"GO," a widely used taxi-hailing app in Japan, and "Japan Travel by NAVITIME," a tourist information service for foreign visitors, have launched a new partnership. This initiative aims to enable travelers visiting Japan to move around more smoothly.
"Japan Travel by NAVITIME" is an app that provides sightseeing information and route searches in Japan, boasting over 2 million monthly users. Through this collaboration, travelers can now search for a destination using the app and then call a taxi directly through the "GO" system.
Previously, when foreign travelers wanted to call a taxi in Japan, they had to download and set up a new Japanese taxi app. However, this partnership significantly reduces the hassle by allowing them to arrange a taxi directly from the familiar sightseeing app.
Currently, the number of foreign visitors to Japan is recovering rapidly, making the securing of transportation in tourist areas a critical issue. For tourists who face language barriers or are unfamiliar with the local geography, a service that allows them to call a taxi simply by operating their smartphone is a significant help.
Such collaborations between companies are expected to further revitalize Japan's tourism industry. Moving forward, the use of technology will continue to advance the creation of an environment where foreign tourists can travel within Japan without stress.
