Recruiting Overseas IT and AI Talent: What is the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's Internship Program?
The Japan Association of New Economy (JANE) will host an online seminar focused on acquiring science and engineering talent from abroad to work in fields such as IT, AI, and semiconductors. This seminar will provide a detailed explanation of how to utilize the "Global South – Japan Tech Talent Internship Program" implemented by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
Currently, the Japanese IT industry faces a shortage of specialized personnel to support advanced technologies like AI and semiconductors. This program aims to secure future talent by facilitating the acceptance of outstanding students from emerging and developing nations—collectively known as the "Global South"—into Japanese companies as interns.
During the seminar, the specific procedures and benefits of participating in this program will be introduced, showing companies how they can connect with overseas students. Attendees will also learn key points for successfully bringing top-tier international talent into Japanese firms.
JANE is actively working to promote a proper understanding of e-business and IT and to reflect these insights in policy. This seminar will serve as an excellent opportunity for companies interested in recruiting international talent to build new networks.
For Japanese companies to maintain global competitiveness, acquiring talent across borders is becoming increasingly vital. Through this program, it is hoped that many Japanese companies will meet young international engineers and grow together.
