Taiwanese government donates approximately 25 million yen to areas affected by the Kumamoto earthquake

On the 31st, Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it would donate 5 million New Taiwan dollars (approximately 25 million Japanese yen) to support areas affected by the earthquake in Kumamoto Prefecture. This aid is intended to be used for the reconstruction of the lives of those affected and for local recovery efforts.

The Taiwanese government is known for providing swift assistance whenever a major disaster occurs in Japan. Regarding this donation, the Taiwanese side commented, "Japan is a cherished friend, and we hope that the people in the affected areas can return to their normal lives as soon as possible."

In addition to this donation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also established a dedicated account to accept donations from the general public. Through this account, a system has been put in place to allow Taiwanese citizens to also send support to the affected areas.

In response to this warm support from Taiwan, voices of gratitude have been raised within Japan. International solidarity during times of disaster serves as a great encouragement to those in affected areas. Efforts toward the recovery of the affected regions will continue to move forward with the cooperation of both domestic and international partners.
