Carcinogenic substance found in Taiwanese cooking oil; some products to be discarded
It has been revealed that cooking oil manufactured by the major Taiwanese oil producer "Jung-Li Oil" contained the carcinogen "benzopyrene" at levels exceeding safety standards. In response to this issue, Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare held an emergency press conference on the 21st to announce their countermeasures.
As a result of the investigation, eight lots of the affected products, including those intended for export, will be completely discarded to ensure safety. This is a strict measure taken to protect the health of consumers.
On the other hand, 19 lots that were confirmed to meet safety standards through testing have been permitted to resume sales and distribution. The government intends to continue enforcing thorough food safety management moving forward.
While many people are concerned about the safety of food imported into Japan, Taiwanese authorities are conducting a swift investigation into this issue. When purchasing food products, it is important to pay attention to the latest news and government announcements.
