Taiwan President Lai Ching-te Emphasizes Strengthening Cooperation with Democratic Nations
Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te attended an international forum held in Taipei on the 19th. The forum featured discussions on the changing international situation surrounding Taiwan and the increasing military pressure from China.
In his speech, President Lai stated that maintaining peace and stability in Taiwan is of vital importance. He also strongly asserted that attempts to unilaterally change the status quo by force must not be tolerated, demonstrating a firm stance against actions that threaten peace.
Furthermore, President Lai appealed that Taiwan cannot ensure its security alone, and that cooperation with countries in the democratic camp, including Japan and the United States, is essential. His vision is to build a society capable of resisting external threats by strengthening "resilience," which involves enhancing the defense capabilities of the society as a whole.
In recent years, tensions have been rising around the Taiwan Strait, and the stability of this region has become a major security concern for Japan as well. The Taiwanese government intends to continue working with the international community to protect regional peace.
