What is the "Global South" IT Talent Acquisition Program promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry?
The Japan Association of New Economy (JANE) held an online seminar to attract science and engineering talent from overseas who are active in fields such as IT, AI, and semiconductors. The seminar provided a detailed explanation on how to utilize the "Global South – Japan Tech Talent Internship Program" currently being implemented by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Currently, the Japanese IT industry is facing a shortage of technicians with advanced expertise due to the acceleration of digitalization. This program aims to secure future talent by accepting outstanding students from countries known as the "Global South," which are experiencing remarkable economic growth, into Japanese companies as interns.
The seminar introduced concrete steps on how to recruit overseas students and help them succeed within Japanese companies. Furthermore, there was a discussion on how Japanese companies should collaborate with global talent amidst the intensifying worldwide competition in the fields of IT and AI.
The Japan Association of New Economy stated that it will continue its activities to promote a correct understanding of e-business and IT. Through this program, it is expected that Japanese companies will connect with outstanding overseas talent and further advance technological innovation.
