Taipei Mayoral Candidate Shen Po-yang Exchanges Views with Japanese Youth in Tokyo
Shen Po-yang, a legislator from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party who plans to run in the Taipei mayoral election this November, held a roundtable discussion in Tokyo on the evening of the 13th. The event was attended by young people living in Japan, who joined Shen in discussing the future of Taipei.
Shen currently serves as a legislator, equivalent to a member of parliament in Taiwan. During the roundtable, he spoke about the challenges facing Taipei City and his ideas for future urban policy. In particular, the discussion focused on urban development from the perspective of young people and how Taipei should position itself as an international city.
Participants raised many questions regarding specific policies, such as Taipei's traffic environment and the promotion of digitalization. Drawing on his own experience, Shen explained his vision for making Taipei a more livable and vibrant city.
This visit served as a valuable opportunity for young people from Taiwan and Japan to engage in direct dialogue. Shen intends to continue refining his policies by incorporating diverse opinions as he prepares for the Taipei mayoral election.
The Taipei mayoral election is one of the most closely watched contests in Taiwanese politics. Shen's activities in Tokyo can be seen as an indication of the growing international interest in the future of Taipei.
