South Korean National Security Advisor expresses hope for resumption of North Korea-US dialogue
Wi Sung-lac, the National Security Advisor of South Korea, stated his official view on the relationship between North Korea and the United States on the 18th. He expressed a strong hope that the friendly relationship between the leaders of the two countries will develop into meaningful dialogue in the future.
The situation surrounding the Korean Peninsula has long attracted the attention of the international community. Mr. Wi emphasized that easing regional tensions through dialogue is extremely important for the peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula.
For Japan, too, the stability of the Korean Peninsula is a major security concern. The issues of North Korea's nuclear weapons and missiles are matters that directly affect the lives of Japanese citizens, and a peaceful resolution through dialogue is hoped for.
The international community is closely watching how North Korea and the United States will move forward and in what form they will come to the negotiating table. The South Korean government intends to continue its efforts to create an environment for dialogue, acting as a bridge between the two countries.
