Tadahito Iguchi to be Appointed as Next Manager of Japan National Baseball Team "Samurai Japan"
It has been learned that Tadahito Iguchi, former manager of the Chiba Lotte Marines, will be appointed as the next manager of the Japan national baseball team, "Samurai Japan." According to sources, a broad agreement has already been reached, and an official announcement is forthcoming.
During his playing career, Iguchi excelled with the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks (now the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks) and also gained experience playing in Major League Baseball. After retiring, he led the Lotte Marines as manager, where his leadership achievements were highly regarded. This marks the first time that an individual with Major League experience will serve as the manager of Samurai Japan.
This appointment is made with an eye toward the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Baseball has been confirmed to return as an official event at the Los Angeles Games, and the Japan national team is moving forward with building a new structure aimed at winning the gold medal.
Iguchi is expected to leverage his extensive international experience to build a strong team capable of competing on the world stage. Preparations for strengthening the team, including the selection of coaching staff and national team players, are scheduled to begin in earnest.
