Africa Business Seminar Held in Nagoya: Tokai Region Companies Contribute with Cutting-Edge Technology

An "Africa Business Seminar" was recently held in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. The seminar was conducted to explore insights into how Japanese companies should advance their businesses in Africa. Many companies interested in the African market gathered at the venue and listened intently.

During the seminar, specific case studies utilizing projects from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) were introduced. A project conducted in Ghana, West Africa, garnered particular attention. In this project, Japan's latest technologies, drones and AI (Artificial Intelligence), are being utilized.

As a result of this project, significant achievements were made in the fields of agriculture and healthcare. In addition to reducing costs by 27%, the project succeeded in decreasing the amount of chemicals used by 50% to 70%. This has enabled more efficient operations while minimizing environmental impact.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is also paying attention to these results. In 2026, the use of drones and AI is scheduled to be included in the WHO guidelines. The fact that Japanese technology is contributing to the creation of global standards serves as a significant source of confidence for Japanese companies.

Through this seminar, it was demonstrated that the technologies possessed by companies in the Tokai region are useful for solving challenges in Africa. Moving forward, the economic ties between Africa and Japan are expected to strengthen further through technological cooperation.
