Japan Women's National Rugby Sevens Team 'Sakura Sevens' Holds Training Camp in Kumagaya
The Japan women's national rugby sevens team, known as the "Sakura Sevens," held a training camp in Kumagaya City, Saitama Prefecture. The camp included not only members of the national team but also players from the "Women's Sevens Development Squad (SDS)," who are expected to play key roles in the future.
The main objectives of the camp were to improve the players' technical skills and strengthen team coordination. Through rigorous training, the players worked on developing the tactics and physical stamina needed to win in global competitions. Additionally, by having young players train alongside experienced veterans, the team is aiming to elevate the overall standard of the squad.
Rugby sevens requires exceptionally high levels of endurance and speed, as a small number of players must cover a large field. During the Kumagaya camp, intense training sessions simulating real match scenarios were repeated, with players seriously focusing on refining every single play.
The Japan Rugby Football Union plans to continue focusing on the promotion and development of women's rugby through such training camps. Many rugby fans are looking forward to the future success of the Sakura Sevens as they compete on the world stage.
