Okinawa Prefecture to Raise Starting Salaries for University Graduates by 9,500 Yen to Secure Talent

The Okinawa Prefectural Personnel Commission has recommended raising the starting salary for new university graduates joining the prefectural staff by 9,500 yen, bringing it to 241,500 yen. This initiative is aimed at securing young talent and creating a more favorable working environment.

In addition to the increase in starting salaries, the recommendation also included a review of the bonuses (end-of-term and diligence allowances) paid to prefectural employees. As a result, the average bonus payment per employee is expected to be 792,994 yen.

Meanwhile, the trend of wage increases is also spreading among private companies within Okinawa Prefecture. For example, Orix Business Centre Okinawa has decided to raise wages by 4.0% starting in April. Amid rising prices, many companies are moving to improve salaries to protect the livelihoods of their employees.

As both public institutions and private companies implement wage hikes, the momentum to increase the income of workers across Okinawa Prefecture is growing. Attention is now focused on how these efforts will impact the local economy moving forward.
