Program Supporting Children's Health in Vietnam Wins 'Sustainable Japan Award'
The "Smiles & Health for Children" initiative, which aims to improve the health and nutritional status of children in Vietnam, has recently won the Excellence Award in the ESG category at the "Sustainable Japan Awards 2026." This award is presented to projects that have demonstrated outstanding efforts in environmental, social, and corporate governance aspects.
This program does not merely provide food and medical care; it aims to create a system that enables local people to continue health improvement activities on their own. By having the local community take the lead in managing the activities, the program establishes an environment where health can be sustainably maintained even after the support concludes.
Judges highly praised the project for addressing issues from a long-term perspective while collaborating with the local community. In particular, they highlighted the program's ability to present concrete solutions to the social challenge of improving children's nutrition and achieving tangible results.
This award demonstrates that international social contribution activities by Japanese companies are succeeding as a model for promoting local self-reliance. It is hoped that such initiatives will continue to expand and that activities supporting the healthy growth of children will persist in regions across the globe.
