Taxi app 'GO' and 'NAVITIME' partner to make travel more convenient for visitors to Japan
GO Inc., the operator of the taxi dispatch app 'GO', and NAVITIME JAPAN, a provider of navigation services, announced a functional partnership on July 8. Through this collaboration, it will now be possible to call a taxi directly from 'Japan Travel by NAVITIME,' a navigation app designed for international tourists visiting Japan.
Until now, foreign tourists visiting Japan have often faced difficulties in dispatching or booking taxis due to language barriers and a lack of familiarity with how to use local apps. However, with this partnership, tourists will be able to seamlessly handle everything from searching for routes to their destination to arranging a taxi within the navigation app they are already accustomed to using.
This feature is intended for use in major tourist destinations and urban areas across Japan. After searching for a route from their current location to their destination, tourists can simply tap a button in the app to be redirected to the 'GO' taxi dispatch screen, making it easy to call a vehicle. This will allow for more comfortable travel, even when public transportation is crowded or when carrying large luggage.
According to the Japan National Tourism Organization, the number of foreign visitors to Japan is on an upward trend. This initiative is expected not only to enhance convenience for tourists but also to serve as a significant opportunity for the taxi industry to capture new demand.
Moving forward, both companies plan to further strengthen their partnership with the goal of creating an environment where international tourists can travel more freely and without stress throughout Japan. Attention is focused on how the Japanese tourism experience will evolve through the use of technology.
