What is the IT Talent Acquisition Program in the "Global South" Promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry?
The Japan Association of New Economy held an online seminar to secure science and engineering talent active in fields such as IT, AI, and semiconductors. During the seminar, a detailed explanation was provided on how to utilize the "Global South – Japan Tech Talent Internship Program" implemented by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Currently, the shortage of IT engineers has become a serious issue within Japan. Especially in cutting-edge fields like AI and semiconductors, gathering highly skilled talent from around the world is essential for corporate growth. This program aims to have Japanese companies accept excellent students from the rapidly growing Global South (emerging and developing countries) as interns, leading to future recruitment.
At the seminar, the specific application procedures for the program and key points for accepting overseas students as interns were introduced. Participating companies have shown great interest, viewing it as a valuable opportunity to connect with excellent talent from abroad.
The Japan Association of New Economy plans to continue its activities to spread a correct understanding of IT and e-business, helping Japanese companies enhance their international competitiveness. Efforts for Japanese companies to collaborate with global talent and advance technological innovation are expected to become increasingly important in the future.
