Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, Takes on New Challenges: Launching Demonstration Experiments Using AI and Digital Technology
Hachinohe City in Aomori Prefecture has selected three companies to conduct demonstration experiments using new technologies to address regional issues. This initiative aims to use the latest digital technology to make citizens' lives safer and more convenient.
The three selected companies will each conduct experiments in different fields. The first is "bear sighting countermeasures." In recent years, bears appearing in human settlements has become a problem across Japan; the project will explore ways to quickly detect approaching bears using AI cameras and other tools to prevent damage.
The second is the "DX (Digital Transformation) of the fish market." Hachinohe is a city with a thriving fishing industry, and by digitizing market operations, the city aims to increase work efficiency and resolve labor shortages. The third is "automation of signage management," which will involve developing a system to efficiently perform safety inspections of signs throughout the city.
Through these experiments, Hachinohe City hopes to create a new model for solving local social problems. The selected companies plan to work with the city to proceed with the experiments within this fiscal year.
If these initiatives are successful, they may provide hints for solving similar issues in other regions. Attention is focused on Hachinohe City's future activities.
