Taiwan's Foreign Minister Lin emphasizes the importance of Japan-Taiwan security cooperation
Taiwan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lin Chia-lung, attended the "Japan-Taiwan Diplomatic and Defense Think Tank Symposium" held in Taipei on the 9th. At this symposium, experts and politicians exchanged views on security and diplomatic cooperation between Japan and Taiwan.
In his speech, Foreign Minister Lin emphasized the importance of viewing the "First Island Chain," which includes Japan and Taiwan, as a "single theater of operations." The First Island Chain refers to the line of islands stretching from Kyushu through Okinawa, Taiwan, and the Philippines. This region is considered a vital location for maintaining peace and stability in Asia.
Japanese lawmakers and experts also participated in the symposium. The Japanese side reiterated the recognition that peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait are of critical importance to Japan as well. Participants discussed the need for both Japan and Taiwan to strengthen their collaboration in order to ease regional tensions and protect peace.
This symposium served as a valuable opportunity to consider how Japan and Taiwan can cooperate amidst an increasingly complex international situation. It is hoped that continuing dialogue in the fields of diplomacy and defense will lead to regional stability.
