International Workshop on Survival Analysis Held at Hiroshima University
Professor Takeshi Emura of the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering (School of Informatics and Data Science) at Hiroshima University recently hosted an international workshop on the theme of "Survival Analysis." The event aimed to bring together experts in statistics and data analysis to share the latest research findings.
For this workshop, Professor Tomasz Burzykowski from Hasselt University in Belgium was invited as a guest speaker. Professor Burzykowski is a world-renowned expert in the field of survival analysis, and his visit to Japan facilitated active exchanges of ideas with Japanese researchers.
Survival analysis is a statistical method used in fields such as medicine and engineering to predict and analyze the time until a specific event occurs. It plays a crucial role in estimating, for example, how long a patient may survive after medical treatment or the duration until a product fails.
Many researchers and students participated in the workshop. The attendees, possessing specialized knowledge, engaged in deep discussions regarding the latest analytical methods and their applications, making it a valuable opportunity for the future development of research.
Hiroshima University intends to continue actively promoting such international research exchanges. By collaborating with experts from around the world, the university hopes to contribute to the further advancement of statistics and the resolution of social issues.
