METI and Tech Japan Partner to Secure Advanced IT and AI Talent from India
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has launched a new program called "GS-Japan Tech Talent Internship" to help Japanese companies recruit top-tier science and engineering talent from abroad. It has been announced that Tech Japan, a recruitment agency, will be participating in this initiative.
The primary objective of this program is to attract individuals with specialized expertise in fields such as IT, AI, and semiconductors to Japan from countries in the "Global South," starting with India. By accepting young engineers from these rapidly growing nations as interns, the program provides them with the opportunity to work at Japanese companies.
In recent years, while digitalization has been progressing within Japan, the country faces a shortage of highly skilled engineers. Through this program, the aim is to enhance Japan's technological capabilities and industrial development by connecting talented international students and professionals with Japanese companies.
Moving forward, the plan is to expand activities with a base in India and actively secure talent from other Global South countries as well. This is expected to be a significant opportunity for Japanese companies to acquire world-class technical talent at an early stage.
