Students from Kanazawa and Belgium Exchange Through Architecture: Workshop to be Held in Ghent in September

In September, the "Kanazawa-Ghent International Architecture Workshop" will take place in Ghent, Belgium, featuring students from both Japan and Belgium. This project aims to foster exchange between Kanazawa City in Ishikawa Prefecture and Ghent, Belgium, bringing together students studying architecture.

Ahead of the workshop, a kick-off meeting was held on June 8 at the "Yoshiro and Yoshio Taniguchi Museum of Architecture, Kanazawa." Students and stakeholders involved in the project gathered for this meeting, marking the official start of preparations for the activities in September.

Students from the Kanazawa Institute of Technology and Kanazawa College of Art will participate in this workshop. The students will visit Belgium to walk through the city with local students and collaborate on design proposals. By working together, students from different backgrounds will have the opportunity to consider architecture from new perspectives.

Kanazawa City and Ghent have long shared deep ties in the fields of art and culture. This architecture workshop is being held as part of that ongoing exchange. Students plan to learn about the similarities and differences between the two cities, both of which are rich in historical buildings, and apply this knowledge to their future architectural work.

Leading up to the September workshop, students will spend the next few months conducting research and preparing designs. It is expected that this international experience will serve as a significant opportunity for growth for the young students.
