Taiwanese Military Conducts Offshore Island Defense Drills, Simulating Chinese Invasion
On the 6th, the Taiwanese military conducted the second day of live-fire exercises for its annual "Han Kuang 42" military drills. During this exercise, critical training took place on Green Island and Orchid Island, offshore islands located in Taitung County in eastern Taiwan.
This training simulated a scenario in which enemy forces attempt to occupy the offshore islands. The Taiwanese side deployed defensive operations to prevent the enemy from using these islands as forward bases. The coordination required to defend the islands and halt an enemy invasion was verified.
In recent years, activities by the Chinese military have intensified around Taiwan, and the Taiwanese side is rushing to strengthen its defense capabilities. These exercises aim to ensure the security of the islands amidst such rising tensions.
Taiwan's defense is a critical issue deeply linked to Japan's national security. The international community continues to pay close attention to developments around the Taiwan Strait.
