Large-scale military exercise 'Han Kuang 42' begins in Taiwan
On the 5th, Taiwan's military began the live-fire portion of its annual large-scale military exercise, "Han Kuang 42." The exercise is scheduled to take place over a 10-day period, concluding on the 14th.
On the first day of the exercise, training was conducted simulating a scenario in which enemy forces approach Taiwan using militia vessels and coast guard ships. This drill is highly practical, designed with actual contingencies in mind.
This year's exercise aims to verify the defensive capabilities of the Taiwanese military amidst an increasingly severe security environment surrounding Taiwan. The military intends to repeat training exercises based on various scenarios to ensure a rapid and accurate response.
Taiwan's security is of vital importance to Japan, and military movements in the neighboring region are attracting significant attention within Japan as well. The government and experts are closely monitoring the details of this exercise.
The exercise will continue until the 14th, with various drills scheduled to be carried out across Taiwan. The Taiwanese military states that it intends to strengthen its defense posture throughout this period.
